New project

I've been making so many blankets for other people, and each and every time c has eagerly watched my fingers work the yarn around the crochet hook, even picking up another of my hooks and some wool and winding it round herself. By herself I literally men herself, it's been round her head more times than I care to count 😂.

When making rebecca I was shocked to find c exclaiming "oh wow mummy"' as her little fingers admired the decorative roses and ribbons. Then she laid her head on it stroking it, whispering "oh wow". I had been thinking of trying an Easter blanket  for c. But since her reaction to the pink joy that was rebecca I've decided to attempt a granny square blanket with many different pink wools. I have at least two balls of pink striped wool, and several balls of plain baby pink wool. So I'm thinking striped squares, and plain squares just to break up the striped effect, all with plain white wool around the edging to make joining them up a little bit easier.

The Easter blanket components are all sitting in my crochet drawers (no word of a lie three large drawers in my dressing table are dedicated purely to the storage of wool) ready to be made up asap. I'm trying to get my orders done also, although one has taken a back step when the bows I ordered weren't anything like the shade I had asked for, back to the drawing board on that one. I don't want c to see all these lovely blankets and think, where's mine?

So operation C's blankets has begun.

Catching up

I always name my blankets, it makes it easier when people place orders. I started out using family names, then names of the baby that the blanket was going to if known. Just a bit of fun.

Meet Gabby. This was a blanket I crocheted last year. Quite a simple theme, white wool with pink ribbon and baby pink bows for a lovely little girl. I remember feeling elated when this blanket was completed, it seemed to take forever but she was so worth the wait. She ended up timeless, beautiful, classical. Just lovely.

Gabby was followed by her sister Izzy. A beautiful lemon coloured blanket with white ribbon and bows. A little ray of sunshine.

Then sarah was finally finished for my very own C. A very pretty lilac coloured wool with white ribbons and bows, c still loves cuddling up with this blanket.

After sarah things went quiet. My husband and I went through a really tough time together and crocheting took a back step in my life. In January I was asked by a friend to crochet a blanket for our other friend. I hadn't picked up my hook in months but once I did there was no stopping me.

Andrea and George were created together for a very special little boy who is due to arrive next week. Andrea was made using a very simple yet effective white wool with blue ribbon and embellishment. George on the other hand was a blue speckled wool with white ribbon and bows.

Following my success with Andrea and George two more requests were made, both for baby girls. The first to be completed was Rebecca. I was worried about Rebecca. As you can see from all of the above descriptions most requests use a contrasting colour scheme. Rebecca however was to be created using pink wool, with pink ribbon and pink embellishments. I was unsure as to how she would turn out she has actually ended up being my favourite blanket.

My next two orders are fun I can't wait to finish them. I'm also planning on a special Easter blanket for C.

Are you ready?

Are you ready for a few new blankets? I've rather neglected this blog, but that is all about to change! I decided this year my blankets would be sold with all funds raised going to the miscarriage association following our own loss last year. At the moment my just giving page total stands at zero, simply because two of my most recent blankets were gifts, and the others are awaiting payment. It's been a lot of fun and it is continuing with my order book full up until June so far!
